My Loves

I TREASURE MY FAMILY ABOVE ALL ELSE

These are my kids. This picture is from circa 2020, at Mount Pinos, California.

They are the most special people in the world to me.

I became a mother in April of 2011. It was a lifelong dream for me to be a mom, and I'm so proud of these guys.

We currently live about 15 minutes from the beach in North Oxnard, Ventura County California and we love living close to the beach. The climate in this area can't be beat!

Hang with my kids, go do stuff with them, teach them things, paint, read, write, create stuff, and work lol. Also go to the beach - my favorite place to be! Have you ever done acting or modeling?

In my 20s, I did extra work in Hollywood and auditioned for a few things but they all told me I was too fat. Oh well. It wasn't really my thing I found out anyhow. I then tried to fit into the Hollywood standard, tried to fit in to the Hollywood crowd, found it was not for me and I'd never fit in with the "cool people" so decided to try to find my tribe who I vibe with instead... still accepting applications. :P

I casually modeled for a few photographers locally in LA in my 20s but never really took it seriously beyond that. Mostly for creative projects, which were fun. For me, it was a chance to learn the other side of the camera from a professional photographer.

My Story...

I’ve lived a colorful and eventful life, filled with twists, turns, and a relentless drive to overcome challenges. For those who want to dig deeper, here’s some of my story. (The boring details!)

I was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1979, and was adopted at birth—a fact I didn’t discover until I was 12. It was quite a shock when my dad, John, explained that he and my mom, June, had known my birth mother, Sue, who worked for them. Sue, an unmarried mother of a 6-year-old girl, turned to my parents for help when she found herself pregnant. My parents agreed to adopt me, covering all medical expenses before parting ways with Sue.

We lived in a small town called Blackberry Woods on the outskirts of Chicago. Our house had a big backyard with 55 trees and a golden retriever named Fella. Before Fella, there was Charlie, a German Shepherd who had to be put down after biting a neighborhood girl. My mom, June, hailed from Melbourne, Australia, and was known as a stellar, respected lady. My dad, born and raised in Danville, Illinois, was a Vietnam War veteran, having attended West Point alongside his brother Steve.

My dad’s father died in a car crash when he was just 10, and his mother, Edna, raised her two sons on her own. She was a strong, kind woman who lived in Danville until she was about 80, then moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she passed away at 86.

My parents met in St. Louis, Missouri, in the late '60s or early '70s. When I was three, we moved to Perth, Australia, a place my dad fell in love with. My mum, June, sadly passed away from breast cancer in 1983, and my dad soldiered on, raising me alone. At eight, we moved across Australia to Sydney, staying for 10 months before moving again to Wollongong, NSW.

Our life in Wollongong was ideal; we lived in a high-rise apartment with stunning views of Mount Keira and the ocean. We were affluent, had a vibrant social life, and I thrived in school, winning a state-wide writing competition.

When I was 10, we moved to Clearwater, Florida, and a year later to Glendale, California. It was in Glendale that I truly grew into my skin, developing my artistic skills and producing some of my best early work. I loved my school, friends, and community. My dad co-founded a successful company, Micro 2000, with Rob McFarlane.

However, despite our stability, my dad yearned to return to Australia. He arranged a new business partnership with Hugh Wingate, a former colleague from Wollongong, and purchased a condo in Shellharbour, NSW. I was happy in California and didn't believe we would move, but at 14, we relocated to Australia again, bringing a challenging culture shock.

In Shellharbour, I didn’t fit in well and struggled academically. At 16, I dropped out of high school and moved to Sydney, working various jobs to support myself. My dad moved to England to pursue business opportunities, leaving me behind to fend for myself for two years with little communication. I navigated life on my own, living with roommates, doing sales jobs, and even got caught in some scammy multi-level marketing schemes.

One memorable role was a door-to-door sales job, where I learned leadership, teamwork, and handling rejection (thanks, Mike Irving). I eventually landed a customer service job at Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company, earning $58K a year—a substantial amount for a 19-year-old in the 90s.

However I was homesick for the U.S. and, driven by this longing, moved back to Los Angeles at 20. It wasn’t the best decision in hindsight, but every experience is an opportunity to learn and grow. I attempted to break into acting but struggled to balance financial survival with auditioning. I pivoted to marketing, finding a way to channel my creative energies.

By 27, after some testing experiences, I found myself in Denver, Colorado—penniless, jobless, and homeless. Fortunately, I had reconnected with my birth mother, Sue, who helped me get back on my feet with an apartment and a job. I started at the Gap and soon transitioned to a bookkeeping position, earning a good salary.

In 2007, my dad passed away. I had been trying to save enough money for a plane ticket to visit him, but my paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle made it impossible. I regret not making it back to see him, but I cherish the deep conversations we had when I visited him from Sydney between ages 17-19. He was my best friend, the person who understood me most. Losing him was one of my hardest moments.

In April 2010, I got married in Colorado, and the following year, I became a mother to a beautiful daughter, Nadia. Our amazing son, London, was born in December 2012. My marriage ended in 2017 despite my efforts to fix it, but we remain amicable, sharing custody and focusing on being great parents.

While in Boulder Colorado in 2008, I discovered my passion for photography. I started a freelance business in 2012 after moving back to California, building a strong client base and eventually ranking my website on the first page of Google, serving over 100 clients over eight years until 2020. I also homeschooled my kids in their early years, later enrolling them in a private school where I took on the role of Marketing Director. I leveraged my photography and marketing skills to enhance the school’s public relations and meet tight school promotion deadlines consistently.

In 2019, after taking some courses and joining a coaching program to enhance my marketing skills I launched an agency focused on running Facebook ads and managing social media for solar companies. Later that year, I moved to Pine Mountain Club, California. When the pandemic hit in 2020, things got very challenging especially with the kids being out of school for a year and a half, but I persisted.

I even did uber driving and house cleaning for a while during 2021-2022 to stay afloat as a single mother. It was a struggle and I worked hard at rebuilding.

In April 2022, Axelor8 Marketing (Previously The Digital Commerce Agency) was born. I now provide marketing coaching, digital marketing fulfillment, automation set up, CRM management, and an all-in-one platform solution to help businesses streamline their operations and reduce costs.

In May 2022, I moved my family to Ventura County, California, where I enjoy living by the beach, drawing inspiration from the waves and cool ocean breeze.

In October of 2022 I started working remotely full-time as a marketer for a nutrition company based in Florida, and balance this with my clients and team at Axelor8 Marketing while raising two young humans.

Through every twist and turn, my life has been shaped by resilience, creativity, and a drive to help others succeed in business. From surviving on my own at 16 to building a thriving marketing agency, I’ve learned that every challenge is an opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve greatness.

I am constantly working on getting to the next level, and helping others do the same. I can't wait to re-write my story again in a couple years time and look back at how far I've come and how many others I've helped.
